Jason Jestadt (BMus. MMus. McGill University,
MMus. Royal College of Music) has been active as a composer in both Canada
and the United Kingdom. Most recently, he has composed music for
animation at the Royal College of Art and film at Goldsmiths College
in London studying under composers Patrick Doyle (Sense and sensibility,
Carlito’s Way) and Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talented
Mr. Ripley). In 2001, Jason served as composer-in-residence for
the McGill Concert Choir and in 2000, musical director for the Metropolitan
Community Church of Toronto.
For the past seven years, Jason has been commissioned
by a variety of ensembles in Canada. In 2001 he received the J.B.C.
Watkins Award for composition from the Canada Council for the Arts
and in 1999, Le Prix Du Quebec for composition. From 1999-2001
he served as an instructor of music theory, analysis, and musicianship
at McGill University.
