Norm Hacking review of Musical Poetry Volume 2
Written and performed by Phil Ball
(Musicians: Brian Gauci, Guitar; Michael Fonfara, Keyboards; Pat Carey,
Saxophone.)
Smart, and delightfully unpretentious, Phil Ball’s words give his
brilliant musicians wings.
Subject matter ranges from tadpoles in jars, abusive fathers, telephone
salespersons, and finding dinner at the bottom of a trashcan.
This CD addresses both the whimsical, and the truly poignant thoughts
and moments of a lifetime.
Track 15, entitled “A Box of Emotions” should be required listening
for everyone who attempts to lead a life on this confusing, cruel, joyous
world.
Congratulations! Phil Ball has created a spoken word CD that is both
entertaining, and courageously open and real.

Played the poetry CD in my car this week. I’m enjoying the fun poems/songs
and I’m impressed with the physical production. Sound quality is great.
